An Evening in Rio with The Best of Brazil
Brazilian music is a celebration of rhythm and passion. In the early 1960s, Brazilian Bossa Nova took America by storm when the artistry of Antônio Carlos Jobim, João Gilberto, Luis Bonfa, lyricist Vinícius de Moraes and others was discovered by American jazz musicians like Charlie Byrd and Stan Getz. Born of the Samba, slowing the tempo, adding beautiful melody, sophisticated harmony, and finished with poetry, songs like The Girl from Ipanema, Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars, Wave, and many more transported us to the beaches and nightclubs of Rio. Celebrate the music of Brazil with the genius of the finest Brazilian musicians - Romero Lubambo on guitar, Nilson Matta on bass, Duduka da Fonseca on drums, pianist Helio Alves and vocalist Maucha Adnet with great American tenor sax Harry Allen honoring Antônio Carlos Jobim, João Gilberto and Stan Getz for a delightful evening in Rio. Presented by Singer & Simpson Productions.
