Please join us for an evening of Punk Feminisms! The Visiting Artists and Critics Series (VACS) presents the work of Vivienne Dick and Rachel Garfield, who both emerged from the original punk scenes in the United States and the United Kingdom in the 1970s and 1980s. Rachel Garfield, artist and author of the recent book, Experimental Film and Punk: Feminist Audio Visual Culture in the 1970s and 1980s (Bloomsbury), and Vivienne Dick, artist and filmmaker, will screen film clips and discuss works by Vivienne Dick and others such as Abigail Child, Bette Gordon, Sandra Lahire, and Ruth Novaczek through the context of punk, the 1970s, and feminism.
This event is FREE and open to the public, but registration is requested. This VACS event has been generously funded by a grant from the University of Colorado President’s Fund for the Humanities. For more information about the event, please contact Dr. Kristen Galvin, kgalvin@uccs.edu.
