Prologue: Dody DiSanto
Description
Dody DiSanto is one of the premier clown teachers in the country. A protégé of the late French clown Jacques LeCoq, her Washington DC-based school of movement and clown attracts students from all over the world. The art form is more than what you might imagine, and theatre history is rich with examples of complex clown characters. From Shakespeare’s fools, to Japanese kyogen, to commedia dell’arte, and slapstick, we intersect with clowns and clowning constantly. Join Dody for this special Prologue and clown demonstration. While not directly related to Steel Magnolias, Dody is happy to touch on all things “funny,” and can thus inform the way we appreciate all theatre.
