Widely recognized by jazz critics as a leader of a generation of innovative musicians with his distinctly unique musical voice, Cuong Vu has lent his trumpet playing talents to a wide range of artists including Laurie Anderson, David Bowie, Dave Douglas, and Myra Melford. An exemplar of “post-millennial jazz,” Coung Vu’s trumpet work has been described as “brooding and masterly...awesome and magnificent” (Jazz Review).
Joined by bassist Stomu Takeishi and drummer Ted Poor, the Cuong Vu Trio explores sounds and form while embracing the undercurrents of popular music. Their formidable synergy propels a “beguiling tapestry of sound and motion” (Schwann)
