Overview
Shifting the Lens: Real Films, Real Talk
Presented by the Ent Center and Youth Documentary Academy
In partnership with the Ent Center at UCCS, the Youth Documentary Academy presents a day of film that addresses the critical issues of our time: destigmatizing mental health, colorism, immigration, intergenerational trauma, toxic masculinity, and transgender lives. Curated by the UCCS Social Work Club, these short documentaries inspire intergenerational dialogue and will be followed by discussion panels with the now-young-adult filmmakers, faculty of the social work school and moderated by the director of Pikes Peak Suicide Prevention Partnership.
Conversations will continue in the lobby, facilitated by the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Department at UCCS, offering the audience an opportunity to share thoughts and connect over snacks. This event, featuring both afternoon and evening blocks, transcends typical film screenings, providing a unique space for both intimate reflection and collective engagement. A connections corridor of tables representing academic departments, community groups, and mental health organizations will engage participants throughout the event.
Session One is: 1:40-4:20pm
Session Two is: 4:45-7:20pm
